Not many magazines have passed the test of time, and few have remained loyal to their history and their spirit of adventure. Published for the first time in 1921, L'illustré has always managed to combine tradition with innovation. 'Everything has to change so that everything stays as it is', Lampedusa once said. This aphorism is the opposite of the conservative approach - the idea is to look forwards, to listen to the spirit of the times, to find out what keeps this corner of the country together, what brings people alive, what motivates them and what they dream about.
The new format was launched almost four years ago and since then, L'illustré has proven to be a happy exception - a success that bucks the trend of the sometimes brutal developments on the press landscape in Switzerland. Rising sales figures, more readers of both sexes, growing advertising figures - these are glorious years for the magazine. We are inclined to believe that it is this very success which fuels the energy we need to create a new magazine every Wednesday: the latest news, the best photos, features on people without voyeurism, a service section and practical tips - topics subtly mixed to a secret recipe that we improve time after time.
The essence of our wonderful mission as the publisher of a magazine is to tell stories, to provide information, to show emotions - but also to entertain. L'illustré 2007 also achieves this balance, making it the most-read and most important magazine in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. However, our success is also founded on our readers' trust - and, of course, in the trust of the people who communicate through us: many thanks for sharing this fantastic adventure with us as our partners.
You are the foundation for today's L'illustré!
